You're not bad with money. Typing in every payment is just too much work. Alchemist reads your bank and UPI SMS and sorts every payment for you. It only asks about a payment it doesn't recognise, and it only asks once.
Android early access. We'll email you once when it's ready. No spam.
Sound familiar?
Good intentions, nice pen. Then one busy week and the pages stayed blank.
Colour-coded and full of formulas. You stopped opening it after the second Sunday you missed.
Every one wanted you to type in every chai, cab and UPI payment. So you stopped.
It was never a willpower problem. Tracking that depends on you remembering is tracking that stops. Your bank already texts you every payment, so the app should do the logging, not you.
How it works
No typing, no receipts to photograph, no end-of-month catch-up.
Every debit and credit alert your bank already sends becomes a transaction, with the amount and date filled in.
Merchants you've seen before go straight to the right category.
If a payment is new, like “Rahul K”, you label it with one tap. Every payment to them after that sorts itself, and your label is never overwritten.
What you get
Your SMS is read and sorted on your phone with plain rules. It keeps working in airplane mode.
A full backup goes to your Google Drive, not someone else's server. Restore it on a new phone in one go.
Pick 50/30/20 or 70/20/10, or build a budget from what you really spend, and it shows the numbers.
See how much went on rent and groceries and how much on everything else. The honest split.
Card spends roll up to the bill payment, so you know what's pending before the due date surprises you.
A daily spending trend on the home screen, charts by category, and CSV export when you want the raw data.
The maker of Alchemist“I quit every expense app I tried. Then a month later I'd open my SMS and see ₹2,340 to someone called Rahul K, and I had no idea what it was.
So I built the tracker I'd actually keep using: one that does the logging for me and only bothers me when it really has to.”
Questions
Not yet. Alchemist is Android-only for now, because iPhones don't let apps read your SMS.
No. Payments come in from your bank's SMS alerts, including UPI payments. You can still add cash spends or anything else by hand.
No. It sorts your messages on your phone with plain rules and no internet connection. When it isn't sure about a payment, it asks you.
In your own Google Drive, in a private app folder. You can restore it whenever you need to.
